Born in Quebec City, Mr.
Boulianne studied in anthropology at Laval University. He
practices photography on a professional basis since 1978. His
principal customers are in the field of the environment (private
enterprises and public ministries) and in the field of
entertainment: Theater,
Dances, Marionettes, Stage etc. His book "Québec,
Pays de lumière", published by Anne Sigier edition, is a great success in Quebec and in France (winner of
the "Prix beau livre des éditeurs français", spring
1999).
Moreover, it was distributed by Quebec's ministry of
International Relations in several countries. Collaborator for
various publications: Revue Franc Vert, Photo Sélection
(portfolio) and Photo Digest (portfolio); calendars and books:
Group Enviro-Foto, imprimerie La Renaissance (calendar 1998),
the Mingan islands, and the Fleurbec guides. He took part in
group exhibitions: Musée de la civilisation du Québec,
National Museums of Canada and in solo: gallery La Passerelle
in Ste-Foy, Maison des Jésuites in Sillery, and gallery Anima
G, in Québec. He is working on a great exhibition on the city of Xi'an
which will be presented by the Musée de la civilisation du
Québec
in December, 2001.
Since 1987, Michel Boulianne hosts photo workshops and gives
conferences on the photography of nature. His slide shows on the
intimacy of Quebec nature were projected in several public and
private organizations (cégeps, universities, congress, museums,
etc). As an invited lecturer in France, he toured 31 cities for
the France-Quebec association. He is a judge for several
photography contests (U.Q.C.N.) etc., and was member of the jury
for the 18th Festival international du multi-images in Chelles
(France), in March 1998.
Representing Canada as a photographer,
he was invited by the Republic of China in May-June 2000 to take part, with
72 photographers chosen throughout the world, in the event "World
Photographers Focusing on Beijing".
Further to
this experience, a book of prestige entitled Beijing
in Focus was realized by 52 photographers selected worldwide in
October, 2000. He made reports on the cities of Xi'an and Changchun.
